Materials Needed

2. Pivot hinge (for the lever arm – e.g., 6–8 inch hinge from an old door or shed)

3. Heavy-duty bolt & nut (1/2" diameter recommended)

4. Large C-clamp or strong tie-down straps (to hold the bale)

5. Long metal rod or thick steel bar (acts as a ram/piston – ~1/2" diameter, 3–4 ft long)

6. Wooden or metal base plate (to stabilize the machine)

7. Welding equipment (if you're welding; otherwise use bolts and brackets)

8. Optional: Rubber grips or padding on contact points to prevent damage

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Build the Frame

- Use two vertical supports (like steel pipes or metal posts) about 3–4 feet tall.Connect them at the top with a horizontal crossbar (like a beam or angle iron).Attach a sturdy base plate (wood or metal) to the bottom for stability.Ensure the frame is square and stable.

2. Install the Pivot Hinge

- Start with a few cans to test the mechanism.Make sure the lever moves smoothly and the compression plate applies even pressure.Adjust the pivot point or leverage if needed for better force.
